We are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor to lead crews performing natural gas distribution installation and replacement projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong gas utility experience who can manage crews, coordinate with inspectors and customers, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of natural gas utility construction experience
  • Experience installing and replacing steel, plastic, and service gas lines
  • Knowledge of natural gas distribution construction practices
  • Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain or maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) certifications
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crews, inspectors, and customers
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules and overtime when needed

Must pass:
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Background check
  • Fit-for-duty medical exam

Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
  • Previous gas utility field supervision experience
Competent Person Training in:
  • Trenching & Excavation
  • Confined Space
  • Pipeline or gas distribution experience with utility contractors

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership

  • Lead and supervise natural gas distribution construction crews
  • Plan, organize, and delegate daily work assignments
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to crew members
Project Coordination

  • Coordinate crews, materials, and equipment from project start to completion
  • Conduct pre-job reviews and jobsite walk-throughs
  • Maintain productivity while ensuring safety and quality standards
Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all crews follow company safety policies and industry regulations
  • Maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements
  • Oversee utility locating and Dig Safe coordination
Operations & Reporting

  • Complete daily reports, job documentation, and project updates
  • Verify time sheets and crew productivity reporting
  • Communicate job progress with management and support staff
Hands-On Field Support

  • Assist with equipment operation, pipefitting, and labor when necessary
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues
  • Ensure equipment receives proper preventive maintenance

Work Environment

This position involves outdoor construction work in varying weather conditions and active job sites.
Work may include:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Working around heavy equipment and active construction zones
