Experienced Natural Gas Technician Needed

North Baldwin Utilities is seeking a dependable, skilled Experienced Natural Gas Technician to join our Underground Utilities team. This position focuses solely on the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground natural gas systems.

Position Overview
As an experienced technician, you will work independently and as part of a team to ensure the safe, reliable delivery of natural gas services. This role requires proven experience in natural gas utilities, gas line installation, repairs, leak detection, and the safe operation of related tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain underground natural gas distribution systems
  • Operate equipment and tools used in gas line excavation and utility work
  • Perform system inspections and identify issues
  • Respond to natural gas service calls and emergency repairs
  • Follow all safety procedures, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Document installations, repairs, and inspections
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required

Compensation & Schedule

  • Starting pay: $19 per hour minimum
  • Higher pay offered based on natural gas experience and certifications
  • Overtime begins after 10 hours per day
  • Merit raises each spring
  • COLA raises each fall

Work Schedule (4-Day Work Week)

  • Monday–Thursday
  • 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • 30-minute lunch
  • Three-day weekends every week

Paid Certifications & Advancement Opportunities

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Alabama Plumbers & Gas Fitters (APGF) Certifications
  • Additional utility and safety certifications
