What is your Purpose
Support business growth objectives by providing strategic and tactical leadership across the national transport function for a medical waste organization. The role will support multiple Business Unit Transport Managers through implementing industry leading metrics, practices, safety and compliance standards. The role will expand and optimize the national fleet and routing to safeguard customer service capacity whilst ensuring cost effectiveness of the national network.
What you will do [Key Responsibilities]
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and execute a national transport strategy aligned with organizational objectives
• Develop strategic fleet and infrastructure plans to support business growth and expansion initiatives
• Drive transport excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage capital expenditure for transport fleet and infrastructure
• Lead national standardization of transport operations across all business units
• Develop transport fleet maintenance programs
• Lead a Safety Culture pertaining to transport
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve organizational grow strategies
Operational Management
• Optimize route planning and fleet utilization
• Oversee national transport operations
• Establish and monitor transport KPIs to drive performance and efficiency
• Ensure awareness and compliance with all transport regulations
• Develop organizational safety and compliance programs pertaining to transport
Team Leadership
• Foster a culture of safety and operational excellence
• Coach high-performing transport teams across the Business Units
• Mentor driver safe driver performance and culture
• Develop and mentor direct report and Business Unit Transport Managers
Business Improvement and Growth
• Identify and facilitate fleet management and routing improvements to improve DIFOT
• Collaborate with Sales and to ensure capacity in line with new business opportunities pipeline
• Collaborate with National Director Plant and Operational Excellence to improve centroid positioning, improving access to market opportunities and reducing average mile per route
• Develop internal strategic partnerships and coordinate with key stakeholders (P&C, Sales, National support roles across the business) to deploy business learnings within the business unit, accelerate improvement and growth opportunities
• Develop national business plans to drive and facilitate new business roll out initiatives to enable growth opportunities
• Integrate and optimize new business roll out within existing routes

• Develop and deploy fleet strategies to ensure transport capacity in line with projected opportunity pipeline
• Support business growth and expansion initiatives
• Drive strategic planning in line with business development objectives
• Align transport fleet capacity and routing strategies enable service requirements
• Continuously optimize fleet and routing to minimize cost and improve service performance
• Drive safety performance improvement strategies
• Develop and improve transport efficiency metrics
• Implement standardized transport operations processes in line with national objectives
• Implement fleet management and maintenance strategies
• Implement new, and manage and improve existing transport related optimization and management systems
• Develop transport policies, procedures, and best practices
Team Leadership
• Provide direction and coordinate Transport Supervisors, Dispatches and Drivers
• Coordinate staff onboarding, training and development programs
• Lead performance evaluations and team development initiatives
• Foster a culture of safety and transport excellence
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders
• Coordinate with National Functional Teams (National Plant Operations, Sales, and P&C)
Performance Management
• Monitor and manage the 4 pillars of operation management Safety, Compliance, Service, and Efficiency
• Develop key transport performance indicators (KPIs)
• Analyze and improve transport metrics (fleet and route)
• Analyze and improve customer service metrics (DIFOT)
• Implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements
• Manage fleet resource allocation
• Manage fleet related vendor relationships and contracts
• Report on transport operations performance to leadership

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Operations Management, or related field preferred
• 10+ years of senior transport experience at management level
