ATI is currently looking for a Metallurgical Engineer at our Cudahy, WI locations. The Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for developing materials application, forged product and manufacturing related technologies using fundamentals of engineering foundations and material science. A successful Metallurgical Engineer will review customer inquiries to assess ATI's ability to achieve customer requirements. The Metallurgical Engineer will collaborate on cross-functional teams including sales, manufacturing, and quality assurance to trouble shoot and resolve issues when they arise.
Essential Functions:
  • Plan and work on technology assessment and or development programs with an objective to improve productivity and quality, increase forged product performance, and develop products for increased market share.
  • Provide technical input and metallurgical guidance with proper evaluation by applying fundamentals of materials science and engineering to the Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing staff for process design and production execution.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers and or internal Sales/ Marketing and Engineering teams to develop or qualify a new material to support market growth potential, forged component for increased market share, and predictive modeling capability as a value-add proposition to the customers to improve product performance.
  • Plan and execute production-type special projects under contract with commercial or governmental customers.
  • Participate, coordinate and guide project deliverables across forged products business locations and various ATI locations through periodic reports and informal meetings.
  • Report and present the progress of key projects to the senior leadership from Engineering, Marketing/ Sales, Manufacturing, while assuring efforts are timely and within approved budget.
  • Assist Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing as requested in all areas requiring metallurgical expertise including visits to customers, preparing proposals, and participation in meetings regarding specific parts or processes.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • 2+ experience in a Manufacturing environment

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer competency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated, organized with the ability to work as part of a team
