Total Number of Openings

1The Lab Helper position supports the QC laboratory operations. The successful candidate will need to place a high priority on safety and being well organized.

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Lab Helper -1through September 16th at 11:59 p.m.

The responsibilities of the Lab Helper position include but are not limited to:

  • Washing Lab glassware and returning it to designated areas in lab

  • Keeping lab oily waste cans and broken glassware containers emptied

  • Providing Refinery Lab Services with a list of supplies, solvent drums, bottles and other equipment needed in routine lab areas

  • Maintaining gas cylinders sufficiently full to ensure proper functioning of lab equipment

  • Maintaining supply of solvent drums for lab reagents

  • Keep assigned areas clean and free of clutter or unsafe objects

  • Make routine rounds to deliver supplies to units, pick up collected samples, and collect dirty glassware

  • Special preparation of sample containers and solutions used in routine lab work

  • Participate in lab safety meetings and be available to help as needed

  • Report for work on time and work safely

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED/equivalent

  • Prior experience using specialized equipment such as the glassware washer, drum lift, pallet jack, etc.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required for transporting samples and materials throughout the facility (MUST HAVE VALID DL)

  • Prior experience handling hazardous materials including hydrocarbon samples containing H2S and benzene.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to use a respirator is required for certain aspects of the job responsibilities

  • Candidates should have basic computer skills and be able to use Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

As part of the application process, you will be required to take an assessment that measures aptitude and work styles. We recommend you allow approx. 45 minutes to complete the assessment in one sitting. If you need to exit, your progress will be saved.

You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have72 hours (about 3 days) to complete the on-line assessment.

Once complete, your assessment score will be valid for 180 days. Should you re-apply for another Job Requisition within this timeframe that includes the Lab Assessment, you will be required to complete the application process and then click on the assessment link. This will resubmit your previous results.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
