Job description

Position: Kennel Assistant
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: AM and PM shifts required
Status: Full-time (30+ hours/week) eligible for benefits
Environment: Fast-paced animal care setting

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Kennel Assistant to join our animal care team. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients while providing routine care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain kennels, runs, cages, and treatment areas

  • Feed, water, and care for hospitalized and boarding patients

  • Walk dogs and provide basic enrichment as appropriate

  • Bathe animals as needed

  • Perform nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expressions proficiently

  • Safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments

  • Monitor patients for changes in behavior, appetite, or comfort and report concerns

  • Assist with laundry, dishes, and general cleaning duties

  • Support exam room and treatment teams as needed

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in nail trims, ear cleanings, anal gland expressions, and bathing animals

  • Comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment

  • Must be on your feet most of the shift
