Job description

Emergency Response Team Member – Spruance, VA DuPont is immediately hiring Emergency Response Team Members at Spruance, VA site. The role serves as a team member to carry out fire suppression, technical rescue, medical emergency response, fire prevention, and hazardous material emergency response activities, and performs maintenance on fire equipment and facilities. Working Schedule 12‐hour rotating A‐B‐C‐D shifts. Responsibilities Respond to emergencies, including fires, medical injuries, hazardous material spills, technical rescues (river, trench, rope, confined space, auto extrication), false alarms, flooding, and other situations. Operate fire suppression equipment, connect hoses, position ladders, drive emergency vehicles, and provide basic life support as an EMT. Conduct fire prevention inspections, identify deficiencies, complete paperwork, and conduct follow‐up inspections. Maintain and troubleshoot firefighting equipment, including generators and air compressors; perform routine checks on hoses, hand tools and specialized gear. Participate in training exercises, demonstrations, mentorship, and public relations activities. Assist with pre‐incident planning, confined‐space work sign‐off, blood‐borne pathogen cleanup, and site emergency response updates. Support other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Virginia driver's license. Virginia Department of Fire Programs or Pro Board‐certified Firefighter I & II. Current Commonwealth of Virginia/ National Register EMT. Current Technical Rescue/Confined Space Operations Level. Current Hazardous Materials Operations Level. Current CPR Class III & EVOC. Ability to pass background investigation, medical and drug screening. Strong communication, teamwork, and professional conduct skills. Clean, shaven, and fit to meet physical standards. Physical & Mental Requirements Ability to perform prolonged physical exertion without scheduled rest, including lifting up to 200 pounds over 50 feet. Capacity to stand, climb ladders, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and reach while wearing SCBA. Readiness to work in extreme weather, fog, smoke, and hazardous chemical environments. Resilience to stress, trauma, and blood‐borne pathogen exposure. Must pass annual physical fitness assessment. Work Environment Work involves exposure to fumes, fire, smoke, extreme temperatures, humidity, mud, slippery conditions, traffic areas, and hazardous chemicals.
