We are seeking a highly experienced National Sea Logistics Export Development Manager to drive the national development and expansion of our Sea Logistics Export product across the United States.
In this strategic leadership role, you will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, developing and executing national export strategies, supporting major customer pursuits, and influencing pricing and commercial decisions to achieve sustainable and profitable growth. Working closely with sales teams, pricing specialists, trade experts, and customers, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening Kuehne+Nagel's position as a market leader in ocean export logistics.
How you create impact
  • Drive the national export development strategy, focusing on profitable volume growth and gross profit improvement across the U.S. export business.
  • Identify, develop, and execute growth opportunities within Sea Logistics Export to expand market share and strengthen business performance.
  • Partner with General Accounts, National Accounts, Field Sales teams, and Customer Care locations to pursue strategic export opportunities.
  • Guide and support pricing strategies for key export RFQs and large commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global SeaTender Team to ensure competitive and profitable bid management.
  • Evaluate RFQ requirements, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and ensure timely completion of customer proposals and bids.
  • Conduct joint sales calls to present Kuehne+Nagel's export capabilities and develop tailored transportation solutions for customers.
  • Participate in customer business reviews and executive meetings to strengthen relationships and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Support the growth of strategic initiatives, including commodity verticals, resin development programs, STM opportunities, and General Accounts channel objectives.
  • Collaborate with U.S. management and commercial teams to win new customers and increase share of wallet within existing accounts.
  • Analyze market trends, trade lane developments, and customer requirements to support informed business decisions.
  • Identify additional revenue streams and opportunities for new export trade lanes, services, and commodity solutions.
  • Develop and implement innovative value-added services that create competitive advantages for customers and the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with global and country-level product teams to align development strategies and business objectives.
  • Represent Kuehne+Nagel through domestic and international travel, customer engagements, networking events, and overseas business development activities.

What we would like you to bring
  • 20+ years of experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or international transportation, with extensive expertise in ocean freight and export operations.
  • Proven track record in business development, commercial strategy, and profitable revenue growth within the logistics industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience operating in senior leadership roles within a global or multinational organization.
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight products, trade lanes, LCL services, and international supply chain networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable business development initiatives and measurable results.
  • Exceptional customer relationship management, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to work across diverse cultures and business environments.
  • Self-starter with a strategic mindset, leadership presence, and a passion for driving innovation and growth.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
