Find your calling at Mercy!The Personal Trainer is responsible for performing physical assessments on members and developing personalized exercise prescriptions based on each member's fitness assessment and health history. They orient members to the equipment and use of the facility and update member's exercise prescriptions as needed while monitoring participation for retention purposes. They must possess excellent communication skills. Understands and practices the institutional Core Values of Dignity, Justice, Stewardship, Compassionate Service and Excellence.Position Details:

Mercy Fitness Center - Healthpoint Jackson

Shift: Part-Time (16-hrs week), Varies/Rotating

Qualifications:

  • Required Education:
    • Bachelors degree in fitness, health, or sports related field or experience in lieu of degree as outlined below is required.
  • Preferred Education:
  • Experience:
    • 1 year experience is preferred for those meeting degree requirements. In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
    • Certification from a nationally recognized institution including but not limited to one of the following is required:
      • CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist)
      • PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist)
      • GPT (Group Personal Training Specialist)
      • ACSM (American College Sports Medicine)
      • ACE (American Council of Exercise)
      • NASM (National Academy Sports Medicine
      • CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
