Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows: although this is not an all-inclusive list and additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the organization. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty.


  • Pleasantly welcome on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Politely and discreetly interviews patient or representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.
  • Thoroughly explains hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.
  • Obtains signed statement from patient to protect hospital's interests on designated form.
  • May escort patient or arrange for escort to appropriate area.
  • Correctly enters patient admitting information into computer and routes to designated areas as needed or required.
  • Promptly answers incoming telephone calls as able within defined time period, tactfully, determines the purpose of callers and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department or voice mail if personnel not available.
  • Provides callers with address, directions, and other appropriate non-confidential information.
  • Retrieves messages from voice mail and forwards to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Maintains visitor logs and issues passes when required.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes mail, maintains and routes publication to the Business Office.
  • Performs other clerical duties as requested or as needed. Including but not limited to filing, photocopying, collating, typing correspondence, scanning, and data entry, etc.


Requirements

Required Education/Experience

High School diploma or general education degree.

Minimum of six months position-related experience.


Preferred Education/Experience

Vocational, technical training or Associates, Bachelor degree.

Five (5) or more years of hospital registration experience.
