POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President (VP) of Content for the Dallas Mavericks is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the digital content and social strategy, overseeing the creation and distribution of multimedia content, and building a content-first organization that drives fan engagement, fan acquisition, cultural relevance, revenue, and long-term brand growth across digital platforms.
JOB FUNCTION:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content and social strategy aligned with the organization's objectives, including fan engagement, fan acquisition, revenue generation, and brand promotion.
  • Develop content strategies tailored to key growth audiences, including youth fans, multicultural audiences, and international basketball fans.
  • Provide leadership and creative direction for the content organization, fostering a digital-first, audience-centric culture focused on innovation, experimentation, and excellence.
  • Lead the organization's approach to emerging platforms, formats, and creator behaviors, ensuring the Mavericks remain culturally relevant and discoverable wherever fans consume content.
  • Oversee the creation of multimedia content, including videos, graphics, social media posts, interactive media, and short-form vertical content.
  • Establish YouTube as a strategic growth platform capable of serving the full fan funnel-from discovery and fandom development to deeper engagement and monetization.
  • Develop scalable creator, influencer, and talent-driven content programs that extend the reach and relevance of the Mavericks brand beyond owned channels.
  • Lead content operations, including planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and production workflows to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Coordinate video shoots, including game footage, interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and promotional videos.
  • Oversee video editing and post-production processes to deliver compelling and visually appealing video content.
  • Lead the digital and social media teams to distribute content across the Mavericks media ecosystem, including the team's website, social media channels, and broadcast partners.
  • Monitor and analyze content performance, audience behavior, platform trends, and fan growth metrics to continuously optimize strategy and execution.
  • Maintain and evolve the Dallas Mavericks' visual identity, ensuring consistency in branding across all digital content and media channels.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to create, but not limited to, visual assets, promotional materials, 360 campaign development, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as digital media, visual arts, graphic design, or a related discipline; advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Extensive experience in digital content production and creative leadership, with a strong portfolio of multimedia content and design work.
  • Demonstrated success in building digital audiences and growing engagement across social, video, and emerging media platforms.
  • Exceptional leadership and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in digital content production tools and software, including video editing, graphic design, and content management systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
