Job description

The Ocean Community YMCA is seeking an experienced, service-oriented Membership Director to lead membership growth, retention, engagement, and Welcome Center operations at the Naik Family Branch located in Mystic, CT. This position provides leadership to the Membership team and helps ensure an exceptional experience for members, guests, and prospective members.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership, retention, engagement, and revenue.
  • Monitor membership trends, goals, member feedback, and performance measures.
  • Oversee daily Welcome Center and Child Watch operations and maintain high member-service standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop Membership and Child Watch staff.
  • Ensure membership transactions, program registrations, financial assistance, and account changes are processed accurately.
  • Manage the Membership budget and prepare monthly reports and performance analyses.
  • Coordinate membership marketing, communications, events, and community outreach.
  • Build relationships with members, community partners, and local leaders.
  • Support the YMCA's Annual Campaign, fundraising activities, and special events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in membership, sales, marketing, or a related area preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in sales and revenue growth.
  • Previous staff-supervision and leadership experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer-service, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with standard business software.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with members, staff, community partners, and local leaders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications.

Schedule:
This is a full-time, exempt position. The schedule will vary based on branch needs and may include one weekend day, along with occasional evenings or special events. The pay range for this position is $60,000-$65,000 per year.
