This posting is for an unpaid volunteer opportunity with the City of Yuma Fire Department.

We are looking for someone to join Team Yuma as a CTE Volunteer Student with the Yuma Fire Department.
SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, performs general work of a routine nature in a vocational or technical work environment, designed to provide practical work experience for the participant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: --Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. This is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class; employees may be assigned duties which are not listed below; reasonable accommodations will be made as required. The job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assists with routine technical work in the areas of fire operations, equipment maintenance, television and communications operations, inventory control, or basic inspection work.
  • Assists with the data input and electronic file maintenance.
  • Runs errands, cleans and maintains working area.
  • Supports the relationship between the City of Yuma and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; promotes the City goals and priorities, vision, values, and the "Yuma Way", and complies with all City policies and procedures.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate/interact positively with others. The successful candidate must:
  • Be currently enrolled in and attending high school.
  • Be actively enrolled in a high school CTE program.
  • Be referred by the High School CTE Coordinator.
  • Be willing to commit to learning accepted technical and/or vocational procedures, processes, practices, and protocols.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. May occasionally be required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects.
