Job description

Position Summary

WMG's Digital Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for leading the global deal negotiations with digital service providers on behalf of Warner Music Group. The team negotiates deals with global distribution platforms, seeks new business opportunities, and works to grow monetization and create value for labels and artists.

Role Overview

In this role, you will support the ongoing efforts to strike global deals across the music streaming landscape by using your analytical skills, industry knowledge, and ability to negotiate complex partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with key digital partners (e.g., Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Amazon, Meta, TikTok, etc.) to support the structure, negotiation, and execution of global agreements, representing the strategic view of WMG.
  • Analyze partner data and create financial models to help inform key decision making.
  • Find new ways to drive WMG revenues and create business opportunities on new and existing platforms (e.g., AI).
  • Partner with legal on drafting and carrying out contract amendments, renewals, term sheets and long‑form agreements.
  • Serve as a point of contact and communicate matters about the digital agreements and partnerships at WMG.
  • Share information with WMG’s senior management, other internal divisions, and global affiliates.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, and media & consumer tech ecosystem trends for the purpose of developing new strategic initiatives.
  • Develop long‑term strategies focused on WMG’s relationship with DSPs and diversification of WMG’s revenue and capabilities.
  • Learn to lead deal negotiations with long‑tail partners across various music licensing use cases.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Consistent track record working in an analytical capacity with large data sets to create complex models around deal, partnership, and industry trend forecasting.
  • Music, media, or entertainment industry content licensing experience is preferred, as is experience with deal‑focused analyses.
  • Driven and inclined to take ownership of all facets of dealmaking, from inception to execution.
  • Proven track record supporting deal and project‑based teams.
  • Strong Excel and Google Workspace suite of tools.
  • Proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a top tier investment bank or management consulting firm.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles (e.g., revenue forecasting and recognition, cashflows, artist royalty obligations) to inform various internal collaborators.
  • Experience crafting, presenting, and completing new central initiatives.
  • Established record in applying innovative approaches and structures to deal making.
  • Excellent analytical ability, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree (Finance, business, economics, or accounting preferred).
Compensation & Work Arrangement

Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000. This position requires a minimum of 4 days per week in the office.
