On behalf of one of our international clients, a family-owned and operated end-of-line packaging machinery company with headquarters in Germany, YER USA is currently searching for an experienced Technical Project Manager (up to 30% travel). The position is based in the Atlanta area and offers the opportunity to lead complex capital equipment and automation projects from concept through implementation.


Job description


Our client is seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Technical Project Manager to lead cross-functional initiatives from concept through delivery. This role bridges business objectives with engineering execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic goals and contractual obligations. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial automation, packaging systems, or capital equipment projects and can effectively coordinate engineering, production, vendors, and customer stakeholders.


Main tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical projects
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the organization
  • Ensure technical solutions align with customer requirements and contractual obligations
  • Organize project schedules and monitor project milestones
  • Manage project scope, priorities, and change requests
  • Lead project kickoff meetings, design reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Review technical drawings, layouts, specifications, and system functionality descriptions
  • Ensure proper electrical and controls design through review of controls concepts and system architecture
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure equipment meets customer specifications
  • Provide technical feedback to support product and system improvements
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and project risks throughout execution
  • Organize procurement of third-party equipment for integrated solutions
  • Manage project budgets and financial performance
  • Develop installation plans and coordinate field service resources and subcontractors
  • Monitor execution activities to ensure successful project delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes and team efficiency
  • Resolve conflicts and provide leadership across project teams
  • Foster collaboration between customers, engineering, operations, and service teams


Candidate Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Controls/Automation) or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing industrial technical or capital equipment projects
  • Experience with industrial automation, packaging machinery, robotics, or material handling systems
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, layouts, controls systems, and engineering documentation
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and customer relationships
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential preferred
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred
  • AutoCAD (2D layout) experience preferred
