Social Media Content Creator / Videographer

Far Out Ice Cream

Brookline, MA • On-site

$20 - $40/hr

Contractor

Posted 29 days ago

Job description

Social Media Content Creator / Videographer
Far Out Ice Cream is looking for a creative, energetic Social Media Content Creator / Videographer to help bring our brand to life across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, ads, email, and in-store screens.
Far Out is a New Zealand-style real fruit ice cream brand with multiple locations in the Boston area. Our product is colorful, highly visual, and unique: real frozen fruit and hard-scooped ice cream blended fresh to order and swirled into cones, cups, pints, and event experiences.
We already have a strong brand, great colors, a fun personality, and a product people love. Now we are looking for someone who can help us take our social media to the next level with content that feels personal, funny, intimate, local, and alive.
This role is part videographer, part editor, part interviewer, and part creative storyteller. We are not just looking for someone to take pretty product shots. We want someone who can help us show the full world of Far Out: how flavors are created, what it is like behind the counter, what our team is like, what customers love, and what makes our product different.
What You’ll Do
You will help create short-form video content that supports Far Out’s next stage of growth.
Responsibilities include:
  •  Film and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, ads, and in-store screens
  •  Capture product/process content, including fruit, ice cream, waffle cones, toppings, machine swirls, and customer handoffs
  •  Interview team members, customers, owners, collaborators, and local partners
  •  Help create recurring social media series and content themes
  •  Bring ideas for hooks, captions, storylines, campaigns, and video concepts
  •  Document how we create new flavors, test ideas, and launch seasonal products
  •  Capture behind-the-scenes team moments in a natural and brand-appropriate way
  •  Film content for product drops, local collaborations, events, catering, and store-specific campaigns
  •  Visit multiple Far Out locations in the Boston area as needed
  •  Deliver edited content on a consistent schedule
  •  Help organize footage and create a reusable content library
Content Themes You’ll Help Bring to Life
We are building a more personality-driven social strategy around recurring themes like:
  • Not Soft Serve: Explaining that Far Out is real fruit and hard-scooped ice cream blended fresh while you watch
  • Watch the Swirl: Satisfying process videos showing fruit and ice cream turning into Far Out
  • First Time at Far Out: Beginner-friendly ordering videos that help customers know what to get
  • Waffle Cone Smell: Fresh waffle cone content and the sensory experience of visiting our stores
  • Staff Picks: Team members sharing favorite orders, weird combos, and flavor opinions
  • Weird Combos That Work: Fun, opinionated food content built around surprising customer orders
  • Flavor Lab: Behind-the-scenes videos showing how we test, debate, and launch new flavors
  • Neighborhood Orders: Store-specific content for Brookline, Cleveland Circle, Time Out Market, and CambridgeSide
  • Bring the Swirl to You: Events, catering, weddings, office parties, schools, and community gatherings
Who You Are
You are a great fit if you:
  •  Love short-form video and understand what performs on Instagram and TikTok
  •  Have strong filming and editing skills
  •  Own or have access to high-quality video equipment
  •  Can make food look beautiful, craveable, and fun
  •  Are comfortable interviewing real people on camera
  •  Can direct team members or customers who are not professional actors
  •  Are comfortable occasionally being on camera or being part of the personality of the content
  •  Understand hooks, pacing, captions, music, and social-first editing
  •  Have good taste and strong instincts for what feels modern, funny, authentic, and engaging
  •  Are reliable, organized, and able to deliver on deadlines
  •  Are excited by food, hospitality, small businesses, local culture, and community
Requirements
  •  Experience filming and editing short-form video
  •  Portfolio or examples of Reels, TikToks, food content, lifestyle content, or brand storytelling
  •  Ability to shoot high-quality video and audio
  •  Ability to edit videos for social platforms
  •  Comfortable using tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar
  •  Willingness to travel to Far Out locations in the Boston area
  •  Availability for recurring content shoots and consistent edited content delivery
Nice to Have
  •  Food, restaurant, coffee, dessert, or hospitality content experience
  •  Experience interviewing people on camera
  •  Photography skills
  •  Basic graphic design skills
  •  Experience with paid social creative
  •  A sense of humor and willingness to be playful
Schedule and Compensation
This role can be structured as part-time, freelance, or contract, depending on the candidate.
Potential structure:
  •  1 to 2 shoot days per month
