Middle School Lead Math Teacher Position

Reports to VCP Middle School Principal

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision. 

 They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Valid Teaching License (or ability and absolute willingness to obtain a teaching license)

  • Willingness to build and maintain a cooperative relationship with a co-teacher

  • Competency in using technology in the classroom setting

  • Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program

  • Ability to lead a classroom using an age appropriate curriculum

 

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL ACCOMPLISH

  • Work collaboratively as a co-teacher, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.

  • Use the state standards and curriculum to internalize rigorous, objective-driven, lessons aligned with school-provided curriculum maps; upload lesson internalization plans weekly

  • Present academic content through a variety of instructional strategies to reach all learners

  • Differentiate lessons for individual students based on their unique learning needs 

  • Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time

  • Regularly assess and track student performance towards ambitious student academic outcomes goals

  • Use data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and teaching practice

  • Receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers

  • Build meaningful, positive relationships with all students

  • Use restorative practices to build positive classroom culture
