Job description

Cytokineticsis a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, building on its over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology, and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction.

The Head of Investor Relations, will serve as a key partner to the SVP of Corporate Affairs and executive leadership team. This individual will lead the strategy and execution of Cytokinetics' investor relations strategy, ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling communication of our business strategy, financial performance, and long-term value proposition to the investment community. As the company pivots from R&D to a commercial organization, this individual has the opportunity to lead the execution of a comprehensive investor relations program to communicate the company's commercial progress and success as well as our continued leadership in muscle biology research and development.

This role requires deep pharmaceutical/biotechnology investor relations experience within commercial stage organizations, strong capital markets acumen, executive presence, and the ability to operate seamlessly at both strategic and tactical levels. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable shaping narrative at the Board level and preparing detailed materials for earnings calls and investor conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive investor relations strategy aligned with corporate objectives and key value inflection points.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team on investor perception, market dynamics, and capital markets strategy.

  • Closely collaborate with Senior Director, Corporate Communications to shape and refine Cytokinetics' narrative to ensure clarity, differentiation, and consistency across all investor and other communications.

  • Partner cross-functionally to anticipate and communicate major milestones, including clinical, regulatory, and commercial developments.


Investor & Analyst Engagement

  • Lead engagement with buy-side and sell-side analysts, institutional investors, and key stakeholders. Build and cultivate strong relationships with current and potential new investors

  • Prepare senior leadership for earnings calls, investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, and other investor interactions.

  • Develop and draft briefing materials, Q&A documents, key messaging, and investor presentations.

  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor analyst models, reports, and shareholder base trends; provide actionable insights to executive leadership; engage with analysts to inform consensus.

  • Monitor and alert management to market trends, industry developments, competitor activity and investor sentiment; prepare proactive and reactive plans and statements/messages, including course corrections as needed.


Earnings Preparation

  • Oversee quarterly earnings process, including script preparation, messaging strategy, and coordination across Finance and Corporate Communications.

  • Ensure alignment and accuracy across SEC filings, press releases, investor decks, and website disclosures.

  • Partner with Finance and Legal to ensure compliance with disclosure regulations and best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Accounting, Communications; and/or advanced degree preferred.

  • 12+ years of experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking, or related capital markets roles.

  • Significant investor relations experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is required, preferably in a publicly traded, commercial-stage company.

  • Demonstrated experience working closely with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of financial and investor markets, accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong understanding of drug development, regulatory pathways, clinical data interpretation, and commercial dynamics in biotech/pharma.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific and financial information into compelling narratives.

  • Proven ability to operate strategically while also executing tactically and independently.

  • Results-oriented with proven track record for meeting or exceeding goals

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and discretion

  • High executive presence, sound judgment, and discretion.

Pay Range:

In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $269,100-$313,950 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
