  • Leading business development efforts for state and local tax technology offerings, including solution development, proposal drafting, and client presentations
  • Managing the delivery of multistate tax technology projects, with a focus on emerging technologies and scalable data-driven solutions
  • Advising clients on state and local tax technology matters across consulting and compliance engagements
  • Identifying client needs and connecting them to Deloitte's broader services, capabilities, and cross-functional resources
  • Leading client relationships, supervising project execution, and coaching engagement team members

The team

Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is one of the largest State and Local Tax practices in the United States, with more than 1,000 professionals nationwide. The team includes tax specialists, former state tax auditors and administrators, accounting professionals, and technology practitioners with experience across all 50 states. MTS serves clients across areas including state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting firm or corporate tax environment
  • Experience with ONESOURCE compliance and provision software tools and corporate tax compliance processes
  • Experience with data extract, transform, and load tools such as Alteryx, Informatica, or PAXATA, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed Attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
      • CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
      • Certified SAFe Advanced Scrum Master
  • Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree such as Master of Tax, Juris Doctor, or Master of Laws
  • Previous Big 4 or large Certified Public Accountant firm experience
  • Experience with Corptax
  • Experience with state tax consulting or state tax compliance engagements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $116,620 to $216,580.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
