Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Water and Wastewater Permitting and Compliance Project Manager to support its growing national water practice. This individual will serve a key leadership role in managing water and wastewater permitting and compliance programs, source water protection and withdrawal permitting, industrial pretreatment, and multimedia environmental compliance initiatives for data center clients across the United States.

In this role, you will leverage Langan's national technical resources and multidisciplinary expertise to lead complex regulatory programs, mentor staff across multiple regions, support national client accounts, and help drive the continued growth and innovation of Langan's water and environmental compliance services. In addition, you will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally with top industry leadership, fueling a developing Data Center practice, on a diverse array of premier land development projects.

Job Resonsibilities

  • Direct and manage large, complex national-scale water and wastewater permitting and compliance projects, including senior-level technical analysis and regulatory strategy development across multiple regulatory jurisdictions;
  • Deliver on multiple fast-paced projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines;
  • Develop regulatory and permitting strategies for municipal and industrial  drinking water, wastewater, pretreatment, source water withdrawal, and reuse projects throughout the U.S.;
  • Manage the preparation and submission of permit applications and compliance programs under NPDES, general permits, surface water and groundwater withdrawal permits, and water reuse programs nationwide;
  • Provide regulatory oversight for Safe Drinking Water Act compliance programs for utilities and industrial clients;
  • Lead national response efforts for Notices of Violation (NOVs), corrective actions, enforcement negotiations, and regulatory inspections at the local, state, and federal levels;
  • Conduct and oversee on-site facility audits and multimedia environmental compliance assessments for municipal and industrial clients across diverse regulatory regions
  • Support treatability studies, system upgrades, startup, retrofits, and optimization of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems;
  • Lead and/or assist in the preparation of national and regional proposals, including scope development, fee estimates, teaming strategies, and execution plans;
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, including national program coordination, change management, invoicing support, and financial performance tracking;
  • Identify and pursue national client opportunities, expand work within existing key accounts, and support strategic growth initiatives for the firm's water and environmental compliance practice;
  • Coordinate across multiple Langan offices and technical disciplines to support integrated water, environmental, and infrastructure projects;
  • Serve as a national technical advisor interfacing with clients, regulators, contractors, attorneys, and stakeholders; and
  • Collaborate as part of multidisciplinary, multi-office teams supporting projects across the United States.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Science. Master's degree preferred;
  • 8+ years of experience working with water regulations, water compliance, and permitting strategy;
  • Professional certification preferred;
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects;
  • Willingness and ability to identify new client opportunities are strongly desired;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong client-facing and technical reporting capabilities;
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills with sound professional judgment;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple national clients and complex regulatory programs simultaneously;
  • Willingness and ability to support national business development, key accounts, and strategic growth initiatives;
  • Ability to work independently and within a distributed, multi-office consulting environment; and
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support national projects, client meetings, and site visits.
