Job description

Position Overview
We are looking an Electrical Designer Jr with +15 years of experience to support industrial power distribution, utility infrastructure, and electrical engineering projects.
This individual will work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop electrical engineering drawings and construction documents for industrial facilities, substations, water/wastewater facilities, utility systems, and commercial projects.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who enjoys practical engineering work, field coordination, and supporting projects from conceptual design through construction support and as-built documentation.
Projects may include:
  • Industrial power distribution systems
  • Utility infrastructure
  • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Oil & gas and process facilities
  • Commercial and municipal facilities
  • Central utility plants
  • Substation upgrades and coordination
  • Brownfield retrofit and expansion projects

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, BIM, and related drafting software.
  • Prepare electrical design drawings including:
    • One-line diagrams
    • Electrical plans
    • Conduit layouts
    • Cable schedules
    • Grounding plans
    • Lighting and power plans
    • Equipment layouts
    • MCC and switchgear layouts
    • Panel schedules
    • Wiring and interconnect diagrams
    • Electrical details and installation drawings
  • Translate hand sketches, field notes, redlines, vendor drawings, and engineering markups into accurate construction drawings.
  • Read, evaluate, and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Support brownfield retrofit and renovation projects through field verification and as-built drawing updates.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing condition surveys as required.
  • Coordinate with engineers, field personnel, vendors, and project teams to incorporate site conditions into final design packages.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawing logs, and engineering documentation.
  • Support multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, instrumentation, controls, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.
  • Assist with project coordination, drawing revisions, document updates, and revision tracking.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Support project schedules and deliverables while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • 3-10 years of electrical design experience in industrial, utility, infrastructure, consulting engineering, or related environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, BIM, and related drafting software.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
  • Experience developing drawings from engineering markups, field sketches, and vendor drawings.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, scaling, and drawing organization.
  • Experience supporting industrial or utility infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
