Pipeline & Transmission Designer, Intermediate to Senior
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Hybrid

Position Overview
SuperbTech is seeking an experienced Pipeline & Transmission Designer to support the development of pipeline and transmission infrastructure projects from early design through construction. We are considering candidates at both the Intermediate and Senior levels, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Civil 3D, a strong background in pipeline or transmission design, and the ability to develop accurate, constructible design packages while coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain 3D models and production drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Utilize Civil 3D in support of pipeline design, alignments, profiles, site development, and related design deliverables.
  • Develop pipeline routing, piping layouts, plans, profiles, sections, details, isometrics, and related construction drawings.
  • Support pipeline, transmission, station, and associated facility design projects.
  • Prepare and review design packages throughout the project lifecycle, including IFR, IFC, construction support, and as-built documentation.
  • Incorporate field data, survey information, redlines, and existing-condition information into design documents.
  • Coordinate design activities with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls disciplines.
  • Identify design conflicts and constructability issues and assist in developing practical solutions.
  • Maintain drawing quality and ensure compliance with applicable design standards, drafting practices, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate multiple projects, priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Support field and construction teams as required.
 
Intermediate-Level Qualifications
  • 3 to 10 years of relevant pipeline, transmission, or closely related design experience.
  • Hands-on professional experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D required.
  • Hands-on professional experience with Civil 3D required.
  • Experience developing 3D models and production drawings with limited supervision.
  • Understanding of pipeline routing and construction drawing development.
  • Knowledge of applicable drafting standards and industry design practices.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned design tasks while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
 
Senior-Level Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant pipeline/transmission design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing complex pipeline and transmission design packages.
  • Experience leading design activities and providing QA/QC of drawings and deliverables.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical direction to junior and intermediate designers.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
  • Experience identifying design risks, resolving conflicts, and developing constructible solutions.
  • Demonstrated project lifecycle experience from initial design through IFR, IFC, construction support, and as-builts.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and oversee design activities across multiple concurrent projects.

Required Qualifications

  • AutoCAD Plant 3D experience is required.
  • Civil 3D experience is required.
  • Relevant pipeline and/or transmission project experience is required.
  • Strong technical understanding of pipeline and transmission design.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with engineering disciplines, project management, construction teams, and other project stakeholders.
 
Preferred Experience
  • Natural gas transmission or utility pipeline projects.
  • Compressor stations, metering and regulation facilities, valve stations, or related pipeline facilities.
  • Oil and gas, energy, utility, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Field walkdowns, survey coordination, construction support, and as-built development.
  • P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, plan/profile drawings, and multidisciplinary design packages.
  • Experience supporting projects from conceptual or preliminary design through construction and final as-built documentation.
