Job description

A well-established restaurant organization is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee a large portfolio of family-style restaurants across multiple Western and Midwestern markets


This is a field-based leadership role for a proven multi-unit restaurant operator who can improve profitability, develop restaurant leaders, strengthen operational consistency and maintain accountability across geographically dispersed markets.


Responsibilities

  • Lead operations across approximately 27–30 restaurant locations.
  • Directly manage and develop Restaurant Managers and emerging District Managers.
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and execute plans to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Review restaurant P&Ls, labor, food cost, sales trends and operational KPIs.
  • Develop measurable action plans for underperforming restaurants.
  • Conduct regular restaurant visits, operational inspections and cash audits.
  • Recruit, select, onboard and develop restaurant leadership.
  • Build succession plans and prepare high-potential managers for promotion.
  • Resolve escalated employee-relations, guest-service and operational concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food-safety standards and employment requirements.
  • Support local marketing initiatives and new restaurant openings.
  • Maintain strong communication between restaurant teams and company leadership.


Qualifications

  • At least five years of progressive multi-unit restaurant operations experience.
  • Family-style or full-service family dining experience is required.
  • Current or previous experience as a Regional Director, Director of Operations, Area Director, Regional Manager or senior District Manager.
  • Experience overseeing a large multi-unit restaurant portfolio.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant P&Ls, budgeting, labor management, food cost and profitability.
  • Proven success developing Restaurant Managers and District Managers.
  • Demonstrated job stability and progressive responsibility.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution and performance-management skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Wisconsin.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing 20 or more restaurant locations.
  • Experience leading restaurants across multiple states.
  • Background with established family dining, casual dining or franchise restaurant organizations.
  • New-store opening and market-expansion experience.
  • Experience improving underperforming restaurant markets.
