Position Summary

As a Department Manager, you will lead one or more departments within the store, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience through outstanding customer service, strong merchandising, and operational excellence. You will coach and develop your team, drive department performance, and ensure company standards are consistently executed.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced retail professional who enjoys developing people, delivering results, and leading from the sales floor.


What You'll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of your assigned department(s) to achieve sales and operational goals.
  • Coach, motivate, and develop Supervisors and store associates through regular feedback and training.
  • Ensure product availability through effective replenishment, inventory management, and stock organization.
  • Execute company standards for visual merchandising, pricing, promotional displays, and presentation.
  • Monitor department sales and KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining a visible presence on the sales floor.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training within your department.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and support loss prevention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, health and safety standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Store Manager and Store Manager to execute seasonal changes, promotions, and business priorities.
  • Foster a positive team environment that encourages engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • 2-4+ years of retail leadership experience as a Department Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar role.
  • Experience working in a high-volume retail environment such as big-box, department store, value retail, toys, home goods, lifestyle, or specialty retail.
  • Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
  • Understanding of merchandising, inventory management, customer service, and store operations.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to drive department performance.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with changing priorities.
  • Full-time availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
