Job Description
The role: Cisco VoIP Technician
As a Cisco VoIP Technician, you will provide consultation, design, installation, support, configuration/programming, update/upgrade, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of voice network and system components, power supply systems, peripherals, and software as required. Your experience with phone systems, related peripherals, common software programs and operating systems is essential to successful project completion. You will complete proper inventory and asset recording processes prior to and during delivery and complete appropriate paperwork as required for customer acceptance.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure and support new hardware and software infrastructure for PBX and voicemail systems (NEC Diamond and Cisco Gold).
  • Provide peripheral support of ancillary telephony systems, including but not limited to MTS Call Accounting, Voice Print Call Recording, AMTELCO Infinity and Intelligent Series, UM8700, and Well Communications paging.
  • Provide support for overhead speaker technologies.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations; and obtaining Cisco certifications
  • Report network operational status
  • Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases
  • Apply configurations to routing and switching equipment
  • Apply configuration of hosted IP voice services
  • Perform basic configuration of firewalls
  • Provide remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation
  • Be responsible for system maintenance of network/internet/intranet hardware
  • Complete appropriate paperwork as required for customer acceptance
  • Travel to customer locations and possess a flexible work schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Foundational knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructures
  • Foundational ability to troubleshoot network issues
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills are required
  • General knowledge and ability to provide day to day support for data network infrastructure supporting voice, data video conferencing, unified communications and collaboration systems and customers.
  • Assist in monitoring network performance criteria and measurement methods.
  • Exposure to any combination of the following: Cisco UCCX; Cisco VoIP; Cisco Agent Desktop; UCS servers; CUCM; Unity Connection; SIP Gateways; Cisco-based routing; switching; wireless and ACE cluster environment
