Position Overview
Turn your passion for skiing or snowboarding into an opportunity to help others discover the mountain. As a Certified Instructor at Mt. Hood Meadows, you'll teach guests of all ages and abilities while creating safe, fun, and welcoming experiences on the snow. You'll play an important role in introducing new guests to snowsports and helping returning guests build confidence and skills.
You'll teach both group and private lessons, work with students as young as three, and collaborate with the Meadows Learning Center team to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Every day brings new students, conditions, and challenges, making this a dynamic role for instructors who love to teach, connect with people, and spend their days on the mountain.
If you're a certified instructor who is passionate about teaching and creating positive experiences on the snow, bring your skills, energy, and love of the mountain to the Meadows Learning Center.
This is a full-time, seasonal position
Qualifications & Experience
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Current PSIA-AASI Level I or higher certification, or foreign equivalent
  • Prior experience instructing skiing and/or snowboarding for an organized ski and snowboard school
  • Ability to ski and/or snowboard safely, linking round turns on intermediate (blue) groomed terrain at Mt. Hood Meadows
  • Passion for teaching people and the mountain environment
  • Strong communication and guest services skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work outdoors in all conditions while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Must have sufficient sight, speech and hearing abilities to learn skills, follow and provide directions and instruction to guests
  • Basic web-based Internet browser navigation skills
  • Ability to read and reply to email communications in a professional and timely manner
  • Must provide own equipment (e.g. skis, snowboard, ski/snowboard boots, ski poles, gloves, goggles, thermal layers, etc.)
  • Able to meet minimum schedule commitment with availability including weekends and school holidays from approximately mid-December through mid-April
  • Submit to a background check to work with minors

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Prior experience instructing skiing and/or snowboarding for an organized ski and snowboard school
  • Prior experience in a fast paced, guest-facing position
  • Prior experience working with children in an educational or athletic setting

Compensation:
  • Starting Wage: $20.00 - $28.85 per hour
