Job description

Position Summary:

DG Foods is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Mechanically Separated Chicken (MSC) Coordinator for our Bastrop, LA facility. This position is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the shipment of poultry products from the plant to customers and distribution centers for a specific customer. This role ensures that all deliveries and shipments are accurately scheduled, documented, and meet customer delivery requirements while optimizing transportation efficiency. This position reports to the MSC and Shipping Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions:

Job duties are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly shipping schedules to meet customer demands and plant production capabilities.
  • Coordinate with the production, warehouse, and transportation teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
  • Communicate with carriers and third-party logistics providers to arrange transportation and resolve any scheduling conflicts.
  • Monitor and track shipments, providing updates to relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipping schedules, load plans, and delivery confirmations.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and transportation regulations, including USDA and company policies.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to address shipping-related inquiries and special delivery requests.
  • Optimize shipping schedules to reduce costs while maintaining service levels.
  • Identify and troubleshoot shipping delays or issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare shipping reports and analyze data to improve scheduling processes.
  • Must be able to oversee and supervise MSC operations in the absence of the MSC supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office 365, and other related software.

Job Requirements:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or scheduling, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in accordance with federal and state law.
  • Must have dependable transportation to and from DG Food facilities, no exceptions.
  • Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a cold and wet environment.
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
