Job Brief

As a rapidly growing small business and SECAF Government Contractor of the Year, we are seeking Mid-Level and Senior Structural Engineers to support critical U.S. Navy ship design and engineering programs. Opportunities are available for experienced structural engineers as well as senior technical leaders who can provide engineering oversight, mentor staff, and serve as trusted advisors to our government customers.

Whether your expertise is FEA, ship structural design, foundations, ship modifications, or leading the structural design of an entire vessel, we'd like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analyses of shipboard structures and systems using closed-form calculations and finite element analysis.
  • Evaluate existing ship structures and develop practical engineering solutions for new construction, modernization, and repair.
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical deliverables for quality and technical accuracy.
  • Develop engineering documentation and AutoCAD drawings supporting Navy, MSC, and USCG programs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting mechanical, electrical, and naval architecture efforts.
  • Interface directly with Navy customers, shipyards, and program offices.
  • Support proposal development, business development activities, and customer relationships.
  • Travel approximately 10% as required.

Mid-Level Structural Engineer Requirements

  • BS or MS in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience performing structural analysis of marine or heavy industrial structures.
  • Experience with FEA using tools such as FEMAP, Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar.
  • Ability to perform structural calcs, drawing reviews, failure assessments, & engineering evaluations.
  • Experience evaluating plates, beams, shells, weldments, & structural foundations.
  • Familiarity with naval structures, shipbuilding, subs, or marine systems is highly desirable.

Senior / Technical Lead Requirements

In addition to the above, we're interested in engineers who have successfully led structural engineering efforts on complex naval or commercial shipbuilding programs.

Ideal candidates will have experience:

  • Leading structural design activities from concept through detail design.
  • Developing & adefending structural design approaches with NAVSEA, MSC, USCG, ABS, or shipyard customers.
  • Providing technical leadership across an entire ship or major ship system.
  • Leading design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Integrating structural design with production, manufacturing, and lifecycle considerations.
  • Supporting proposal efforts & serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers.

Preferred Experience

  • Surface combatants, auxiliaries, amphibious ships, or other large naval vessels.
  • Ship construction, modernization, or major conversion programs.
  • Linear and nonlinear finite element analysis.
  • Ship structures, materials, welding, foundations, shock, vibration, or fatigue analysis.
  • AutoCAD and FEMAP proficiency.
  • Existing Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.
