Project Manager High Voltage Substations

Reporting to the Manger of Project Services, the Project Manager is accountable for the overall deliverables on assigned small to medium sized High Voltage Substations projects. The project manager will work with the assigned resources to ensure project scopes are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and meeting the intended quality specifications. The Project Manager will monitor key performance indicators to ensure successful completion of projects to exceed client expectations.

Here's what you will do as a Project Manager:

  • Develop and maintain key project documents as required: Project execution plan, project schedule, risk management plan and risk register
  • Manage assigned projects' schedules to meet client commitments
  • Lead and manage the project team and resources to provide timely and quality deliverables at each stage of the project cycle including Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning and Closeouts. This will include internal resources, consultants, and subcontractors. Set clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations of each team member.
  • Manage project deliverables from estimating through closeout stages
  • Manage project budget and control project expenditures to not exceed budget. Provide financial forecast and accruals monthly.
  • Chair project meetings including kick-offs, planning, progress updates, change management, reviews with clients and lessons learned
  • Work with the engineering and procurement organizations to make sure project materials are available and in place before required by the construction group
  • Review and approve all project purchase orders and contracts
  • Ensure project documents and design packages go through the proper checks, reviews, and approvals before released to clients, construction, and subcontractors
  • Provide weekly, biweekly, or monthly project status report to clients and executive management team
  • Must be meticulous about the safety, environmental and quality requirements of each assigned project and lead by example
  • Lead the lesson learned and project post-mortems to identify areas for improvements

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we are looking for:

  • Engineering Degree (preferably in Electrical), or graduate of an engineering technical diploma or construction management diploma
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing small to medium Engineering, Procurement and Constructions projects
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in the medium to high-voltage utilities substation design and construction industry.
  • Must be able to travel to job sites as and when required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, customer focused organization
  • Must have excellent conflict resolution, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to manage a diverse multi-disciplined team with tight deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Project
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
