Job Summary:

The MRO Inventory Clerk is responsible for organizing, tracking, and procuring critical spare parts, tools, janitorial goods, and safety equipment. This role bridges the gap between the maintenance and production teams and the procurement department to ensure that necessary materials are available at the lowest practical cost. The ideal candidate maintains meticulous records, coordinates smoothly with external vendors, and navigates specialized inventory software.

Shift for this position: 3:00pm - 11.30pm M-F (OT weekends during scheduled maintenance outages)

Key responsibilities:

  • Stock management: Perform routine physical inventory audits and cycle counts to reconcile physical stock with database records.
  • Order fulfillment: Place purchase orders for depleted materials and track deliveries to prevent stockouts of critical parts.
  • Receiving inspections: Unpack incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and inspect items for quality or damage.
  • System upkeep: Update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP) software with accurate inventory data.
  • Vendor coordination: Interact with suppliers to request pricing quotes, expedite delayed parts, and coordinate product returns.
  • Storeroom organization: Maintain a clean, organized tool crib and warehouse area using inventory logic like the FIFO framework or 5S standards.
  • Tech support: Assist maintenance technicians in identifying, locating, and kitting the specific replacement parts needed for active work orders.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an associate degree in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or supporting a maintenance department.
  • Technical proficiency: Must have SAP and CMMS experience.
  • Hardware familiarity: Competency using barcode scanners, digital logging tools, and basic Google Sheets functions.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and remain standing or walking for extended periods. Ability to walk multiple miles per day and work in all processing locations across the plant site.
  • Working Environment: An industrial warehouse environment.
  • PPE Required to be worn: Hardhat, high visibility vest, hearing protection, safety glasses, respirator, and safety boots.
  • Key traits: Sharp attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and clear verbal communication habits.
  • Credentials: Must achieve and maintain active MSHA part 48 certification (paid for by company).
