| Aspect | Mrna | Rna Polymerase |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Function | Messenger RNA that carries genetic information from DNA to ribosomes for protein synthesis | Enzyme responsible for synthesizing RNA from a DNA template during transcription |
| Work Environment | Found in the cytoplasm and nucleus of cells | Located in the nucleus, functioning during transcription |
| Required Credentials | Typically no formal credentials; knowledge of molecular biology | Biochemists or molecular biologists with specialized training |
Mrna and Rna Polymerase are closely related in gene expression. Mrna is the RNA molecule that conveys genetic information, while Rna Polymerase is the enzyme that synthesizes Mrna during transcription. Understanding their roles helps clarify how genetic information is converted into proteins in cells.
An mRNA job typically involves research, development, or manufacturing related to messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. Professionals in this field work in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or academia, focusing on mRNA-based therapies, including vaccines and treatments for various diseases. Roles can include scientists, researchers, lab technicians, and manufacturing specialists. These positions require expertise in molecular biology, genetics, and bioinformatics. The field has grown significantly due to the success of mRNA vaccines in combating infectious diseases.

Postdoctoral Position in Epitranscriptomics in the Meyer Lab (Duke University)
The Meyer Laboratory at Duke University is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join an interdisciplinary research program focused on understanding how RNA modifications regulate gene expression and cellular function in health and disease.
Our laboratory investigates the molecular and biological functions of m6A, the most abundant internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA. We are particularly interested in uncovering how m6A shapes RNA:protein interactions, influences brain function, and contributes to disease processes. Ongoing projects combine molecular biology, neurobiology, biochemistry, and computational approaches to address fundamental questions in RNA regulation.
Minimum Requirements:
Min Degree Requirements:Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).
