Job Summary:

The Virtual MRI Onsite Operator (X-Ray Technologist) partners with a credentialed Virtual Steering MRI Technologist to support virtual MRI scanning operations onsite. This role serves as the hands-on clinical support at the imaging center by preparing patients, maintaining MRI safety compliance, assisting with equipment setup, and supporting scan workflow to ensure a safe and efficient patient experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Touchstoneโ€™s core values through daily interactions and patient care
  • Greet, screen, prepare, and position patients for MRI procedures while ensuring comfort and safety
  • Prepare the MRI suite and patient table according to exam protocols
  • Perform venipuncture and administer IV contrast when applicable and appropriately credentialed
  • Assist with setup and operation of power injectors as needed
  • Serve as the onsite MRI safety observer and technical support during virtual scanning procedures
  • Assist during onsite patient emergencies until additional medical support arrives
  • Maintain strict adherence to MRI safety standards, particularly within Zones 3 and 4
  • Clean and reset MRI rooms between patients, including coil changes and room preparation
  • Collaborate with remote MRI technologists to coordinate exams, troubleshoot issues, and ensure image quality
  • Document patient reactions, technical issues, and equipment concerns as needed
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of MRI principles, scanning workflow, and MRI safety protocols
  • Understanding of MRI equipment, including scanners, coils, and injectors
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy, and safety standards
  • Strong patient care and customer service skills
  • Ability to recognize patient discomfort or MRI safety concerns during procedures
  • Basic technology troubleshooting skills (audio/headset resets, injector issues, connectivity, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and adaptability

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of a 24-month AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in diagnostic radiology or another imaging modality
  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and valid state licensure
  • IV certification/credentialing if applicable
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems
  • Previous MRI experience or MRI safety training strongly preferred
