We are seeking an Ebola Response Public Health Specialist to join our International Health Unit in North Wilkesboro, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the role of Ebola Response Public Health Specialist,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Serve as on-site DART leadership overseeing day-to-day operations of two ETCs, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training program, and other response operations.
  • Lead handovers for ETC staff rotations, ensuring peer review and continued maintenance of protocol adherence.
  • As a DART Leader, engage in all coordination mechanisms, including ongoing maintenance and strengthening of relationships with the DRC's Public Health Emergency Operations Center (COUSP), Ministry of Health, WHO, and partners.
  • Support response efforts as a technical team member on the Ebola Response IMT, providing guidance to field leadership and serving as a liaison between the field and IHQ leadership.
  • Facilitate regular reporting loops between frontline ETC staff and IHQ IMT teams to ensure continuity and improvement in community-centered practices
  • Coordinate with IMT Response Manager, Awards Management Team, and Regional Leadership in implementation of US Department of State grant award including data collection and reporting
  • Provide public health technical support and guidance to ETC and IPC teams in the collection, validation, and real-time analysis of clinical and community health data to identify opportunities for response improvement and feedback for continuous integration into response efforts.
  • Collaborate with ETC, IPC, and Risk Communication and Community Engagement staff in order to systematically analyze transmission trends, community attitudes, trust levels, adverse feedback, and local rumors.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations and integrate them into response operations, including updating IPC protocols and case management procedures 10%
  • Support data-driven decision-making for rapid response adjustments by identifying clusters of infection risk or disruption related to vaccine hesitancy, burials, or misinformation
  • Other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • MS in Public Health (MPH), MSc in Global Health, MPA, or related discipline with Advanced clinical credential such as BSN, RN, or heath technical certification with clinical or public health experience in emerging diseases and three (3) years of international experience in outbreak response, IPC, or public health emergency operations; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Prior experience in humanitarian coordination required and WHO Emergency Medical Teams (EMT), Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN), or similar field collaboration experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency in outbreak response and IPC for viral hemorrhagic diseases. Experience in training, mentorship, and capacity building for outbreak and biosafety operations.
  • Twelve (12) credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies strongly preferred.
