Job description

Summary of Position:

The Engineering Designer/Drafter supports the engineering services that the company provides to business clients engaged in the construction or operation of telecommunications inside and outside plant facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Interpret/define the project scope required from client plans and specifications for inside and outside plant

· Independently obtain project-related information from the Internet, company library texts, and online resources

· Prepare highly detailed work documents, maps, drawings, tables and lists necessary to:

· Apply for and acquire permits by authorities having jurisdiction

· Enable the client to solicit bids for construction of the work

· Enable others to construct the work in compliance with client plans and specs

· Enable the client to operate the inside or outside plant

· Incorporate and practice safety code regulations pertaining to the project work

· Responsibly work with clients, engineers, project managers, contractors, and peers

· Skillfully use Windows OS, Microsoft Office suite, and AutoCAD

Essential Education and Qualifications:

· Civil Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent two year post-secondary degree in related field or possess equivalent industry-related work experience

· Must be honest, trustworthy, self-motivated, organized and responsible

· Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

· Valid Driver’s License

· Must be willing to travel and work in the field or on-site

Preferred Skills:

· Outside plant construction/maintenance, telecommunications or AutoCAD experience is highly preferred

The main physical demands of this job include sitting at a desk/computer for long periods of time. Also, the job may require focusing on a computer screen for several hours at a time.

Wage range: $25/hr to $35/hr depending on experience
