Job description

Operations Manager – Salt Lake City, UTLead the Operation. Build the Team. Help Shape What’s Next.

D.P. Nicoli is looking for an experienced, driven Operations Manager to lead and strengthen our operations in the Salt Lake City market.

This is a key leadership role for someone who knows how to bring together people, equipment, processes, and customer service to create an operation that runs exceptionally well. You’ll lead Dispatch, Driver, and Yard teams, improve systems and processes, partner closely with Sales, and help position the region for continued growth.

We’re looking for a leader who is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on—someone who can see the bigger picture, but also isn’t afraid to jump in, solve problems, coach employees, and keep things moving when the day doesn’t go according to plan.

And because D.P. Nicoli is 100% employee-owned, you won’t just be managing the business. You’ll have an ownership stake in the company you’re helping build.

What You’ll LeadPeople & Performance
  • Lead, coach, and develop our Dispatch, Driver, and Yard teams.
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and exceptional customer service.
  • Develop employees through regular coaching, performance reviews, and individual development planning.
  • Create an environment where employees understand what success looks like and have opportunities to grow.
  • Champion operational excellence while keeping safety at the center of how we work.
Operations & Fleet
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure our people, equipment, and resources are positioned to deliver for customers.
  • Manage the readiness, reliability, and maintenance of our rental fleet and rolling stock, including trucks, booms, and forklifts.
  • Coordinate internal and external repairs and manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with DVIR requirements, wide-load permitting, and other transportation and equipment requirements.
  • Oversee property and facility maintenance and ensure operational standards are consistently maintained.
  • Drive adherence to the D.P. Nicoli Operations Manual, safety requirements, and company policies.
Process, Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Look for smarter, more efficient ways to operate—and turn those ideas into action.
  • Lead cycle-count reconciliation, order audits, and inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor staffing levels, overtime, timecards, and meal-period compliance through Paycom.
  • Leverage tools including Baseplan, Smartsheet, and SQL reporting to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Ensure employees maintain required safety training, certifications, and compliance documentation, including KPA, CPR/First Aid, Forklift, and Competent Person requirements.
  • Identify operational trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities before they become problems.
Customer Service & Collaboration
  • Build a customer-first mindset throughout the operations team, emphasizing responsiveness, professionalism, urgency, and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to ensure Operations and Sales are aligned around customer needs and business priorities.
  • Lead regional operations meetings and contribute to companywide operations training.
  • Develop practical training resources and videos to strengthen Dispatcher and Yard team capabilities.
  • Represent Operations in cross-functional initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Help create scalable processes that support D.P. Nicoli’s continued growth.
Why D.P. Nicoli? You won’t just work here. You’ll own part of it.

D.P. Nicoli is proud to be a 100% employee-owned company. Through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), eligible employees have the opportunity to build an ownership stake in the company as we grow.

That means the work you do to improve the business can contribute to something bigger—the long-term success of a company you help own.

We also offer:

  • Employer-funded contributions toward your employee ownership stake
  • 401(k) company match to help build your long-term financial future
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and more
  • A strong commitment to promoting from within
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
  • A collaborative, team-oriented culture
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization
Build Something You Can Be Proud to Own.

If you’re an operations leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, improving systems, and building an operation that customers and employees can count on, we’d like to meet you.

Join D.P. Nicoli and help us build the next chapter of a company where the people doing the work also share in its success.

What You Bring

We’re looking for an experienced operations leader who can earn the trust of a team, make sound decisions, and keep a complex operation moving forward.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years of progressive operations, dispatch, logistics, or related leadership experience, preferably within construction, equipment rental, industrial services, transportation, or a similar environment.
  • Proven success leading teams and managing complex, fast-moving operations.
  • Strong knowledge of dispatch, inventory control, fleet maintenance, and equipment workflows.
  • The ability to coach employees, navigate difficult conversations, and build accountable, high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work effectively across Operations, Sales, and other functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with trench shoring and slide rail is a plus.
  • CPR/First Aid, Forklift, and Competent Person certifications are preferred.
