SUMMARY 

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational workflow of consignments and property, from receipt and processing through storage, movement, and shipment. This position supervises Operations staff, coordinates workflow across departments, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures property is handled safely and efficiently. 

The Operations Supervisor serves as a hands-on leader, working alongside the team as needed while ensuring operational priorities, productivity goals, safety standards, and deadlines are met. 


 COMPENSATION: Commensurate based on experience 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise the daily activities of Operations staff, including shippers, packers, and consignment coordinators. 
  • Assign daily priorities, monitor workloads, and ensure operational deadlines and productivity expectations are met. 
  • Coordinate the efficient receipt, processing, storage, movement, packing, and shipment of consignments to the Home Office, clients, and other locations. 
  • Train, coach, and support Operations employees on proper procedures, safe handling techniques, and departmental expectations. 
  • Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing feedback to maintain a productive and accountable work environment. 
  • Create and maintain monthly productivity and operational reports for management. 
  • Resolve operational issues, workflow challenges, and internal or client-related concerns as they arise. 
  • Ensure fragile, valuable, and specialty property is packed, unpacked, and handled carefully and according to established procedures. 
  • Oversee the timely entry, verification, tagging, and lot-tagging of property. 
  • Coordinate storage locations and ensure property is organized, secure, and easily accessible. 
  • Maintain an efficient flow of material to photographers, catalogers, and other departments. 
  • Ensure property can be accurately located and retrieved as needed throughout the consignment process. 
  • Supervise and assist with the safe movement of property, including providing training on proper handling procedures. 
  • Maintain organization, control, and cleanliness of storage and operational areas. 
  • Oversee the storage and movement of non-value materials, including cases, walls, packing materials, and related equipment. 
  • Supervise and assist with boxing, packing, and crating property for inter-office and client shipments. 
  • Coordinate and assist with the safe loading and unloading of trucks. 
  • Oversee the movement and final disposition of sold and unsold property. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory control and assist with inventory reconciliation as needed. 
  • Monitor operational procedures and recommend improvements to workflow, storage, organization, safety, and security. 
  • Coordinate operational needs associated with office moves, relocations, and special projects as assigned. 
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding priorities, deadlines, staffing needs, and operational concerns. 
  • Lead by example by maintaining a professional, organized, safety-focused, and service-oriented work environment. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant work or military experience. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising or managing personnel, preferably in operations, logistics, shipping, warehouse, inventory, or a related environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead employees, delegate responsibilities, manage priorities, and maintain accountability. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to remain professional and composed under pressure. 
  • Ability to multitask and maintain exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Valid driver's license required. 
  • Spanish-speaking skills preferred. 
  • Experience handling valuable, fragile, or specialty property is a plus. 
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 60 pounds and safely perform the physical responsibilities of the position. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The Operations Supervisor must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This is a hands-on supervisory position that requires regular interaction with employees, management, and other departments. The position may require extended hours, nights, and weekends based on auction schedules, shipment deadlines, office moves, and other operational needs.
