Job Summary:
As a Research Services Professional in Debo Sardar's Lab, you will develop management and research skills in a new and growing lab. You will gain exposure to a broad range of concepts in neuroscience - ranging from next generation sequencing to in vivo genetics in mouse models. Our goal is to utilize your existing skills while simultaneously exposing you to new research that benefits both your career goals and our lab's overall productivity.
We are currently seeking a full-time position to support the lab. Primary responsibility will be of general lab management, and animal colony maintenance. A key research responsibility will include mouse brain surgeries, and prior experience in this area or willingness to learn is desirable. Additional responsibilities will be of assisting with ongoing experiments. These experiments include, but are not limited to, immunohistochemistry, genomics, microscopy and behavioral assays.
The position has a possibility of promotion to lab manager role. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in mouse handling, performing mouse brain surgeries, and interest in long-term management of the lab.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing research supplies through CU Marketplace
- Mouse colony management - breeding, weaning, genotyping, colony maintenance
- Co-ordinate with lab members to match animal production to experimental needs
- Performing mouse brain surgeries using stereotaxis methods
- Performing mouse brain surgeries using in-utero electroporation
- Harvesting mouse brain tissue and sectioning brain slices
- Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, preparing solutions, equipment, and safety
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions
- Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information
- Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required
Work Location:
