This role is perfect for someone who brings deep line work experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for coaching others. You'll develop curriculum, conduct training and testing sessions, maintain employee training records, coordinate monthly GEMC safety training programs, and help employees build confidence in safely performing job skills
Schedule: 4-10-hour shifts per week (OT, On-call, and Weekends as needed)

ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do
Lead Safety and Job Training ProgramsYou'll design, deliver, and continuously improve training programs that support safe, effective work practices. This includes developing curriculum and lesson plans, scheduling training with minimal disruption to work schedules, maintaining accurate training records, coordinating GEMC safety training, and training employees on Right to Know and SDS complianceCoach, Guide, and Develop EmployeesAs a Safety Training Instructor, you'll serve as a supervisor during safety training programs, coach employees through hands-on learning, monitor performance with operations supervisors, and reinforce safe job practices with consistency and fairness.
Strengthen Safety StandardsYou'll help establish and maintain corporate safety standards, monitor safety policies and practices, support compliance with the E.C.S. Accreditation Program of GA, conduct field observations, prepare written reports, make safety recommendations, and help ensure Cobb EMC maintains its Safety Accreditation Certification.
Support CDL and Motor Carrier ProgramsYou'll train appropriate employees on commercial vehicle operation, help ensure CDL requirements are met and renewed within required timeframes, complete and maintain paperwork, and review traffic violations and motor vehicle records in accordance with federal motor carrier regulations. Investigate Accidents and ClaimsYou'll conduct on-site investigations involving company vehicles and/or injured employees, provide reports to the Director of Safety Operations, investigate and process general liability claims, coordinate communication with third parties, insurance carriers, police agencies, and contractors, and maintain related documentation
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
High School
Minimum eight years experience in electric utility line work, including a minimum of two years' experience as First-Class Lineman
Thorough knowledge of corporate safety practices and procedures, principles of basic electricity, and first aid
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements
SKILLS: Comprehensive knowledge of distribution feeds and circuits and switches. Demonstrated proficiency in both underground and overhead line construction, live-line maintenance, climbing poles, and working from a bucket. Exhibits a high standard for safety through knowledge and leadership of current safety requirements
Excellent oral and written communication and motivation skills
Public speaking and presentation skills
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and handle member complaint calls professionally.
Proficient with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver's license and relevant endorsements
Certification Requirements
Ability to become certified as a trainer of trenching, shoring, flagging, forklift, medic first aid and CPR, and
Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices Instructor
Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator's Certification
Obtain Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification within 5 years
Obtain Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) certification within 5 years
Ability to complete Northwest Lineman College apprentice program within 5 years
PREFERRED:
Associate degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field.
