The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a  Electrical Systems Engineer.

Job Summary

Join our team as an Electrical Systems Engineer, collaborating with team responsible for the requirement, design, and execution of low voltage electrical systems/components on our small displacement platform. This position acts as a front-line technical leader, auditing the electrical systems development and release plan that ensures H-D projects meet our time, quality, and cost benchmarks. In addition to technical experience, this role requires strong organizational skills and an ability to collaborate with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with Vehicle Engineering to define, document, and maintain vehicle-level functional requirements, customer use cases, and performance expectations.  
  • Ensure that system requirements are traceable, testable, and aligned with program goals throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with development and test teams to drive robust systems verification plan that meets program milestones for DV, PV, SOP. 
  • Resolve technical issues by applying problem-solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional support from the Engineering and Test Organizations.
  • Oversee electrical architecture and component design decisions to ensure achievement of all program-level requirements with emphasis on simplification and optimization. 
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional forums to communicate program status and ensure delivery of a great motorcycle and riding experience.
  • Maintain continuous improvement backlog. Act as a subject matter expert and resource for continuous improvement roadmap planning.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical Degree.    

Experience Requirements:

A successful candidate will have at least 3 years of related experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated many of the following: 

  • Experience in transportation, automotive, powersports, or similar regulated environments. Understanding of automotive/motorcycle development cycles, safety considerations, and regulatory/environmental requirements.
  • Strong interest (direct experience desired) in whole-vehicle systems with detailed electrical system/component design & integration experience.
  • Success coordinating teams of internal stakeholders and suppliers to meet aggressive quality and performance objectives. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional team members without direct authority.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear and understandable fashion to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Capable of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.  Proven track record of creative problem-solving.
  • Experience supporting verification/validation activities or integrating requirements into test plans is a plus.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
