About this Job The University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking a Bus Driver to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting campus operations by providing safe, timely, and professional transportation services. The Bus Driver helps create a welcoming experience by ensuring vehicles are well-maintained, routes are followed efficiently, and passengers are transported with care and courtesy.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana commercial driver's license plus one year of experience in the operation of buses or conventional tractor-trailer type trucks. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Operates large passenger, restroom equipment diesel buses on long or short distance trips. Assist with luggage, communications, and all other aspects of trips. Check tires, fluid levels, lights, fueling, safety equipment, passenger seating, and cleanliness of buses.

Ensures the safety of all passengers by following all traffic laws, university policies, and DOT driving regulations. Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report maintenance or safety concerns. Assist passengers with boarding, seating, and unloading.

Coordinate with trip organizers, coaches, or faculty/staff to ensure schedules and routes are followed. Assist with trip logistics, including loading and unloading, equipment or materials. Complete required trip logs, mileage reports, and inspection documentations Bus maintenance, check fluids, belts & hoses, fuel filters, check A/C & heater operation, and air pressure in tires & tire wear.

Check operations of instruments in dash. Check outside rear-view mirrors. Fix minor electrical problems.

Clean inside & outside of buses, bus restroom, and windows which consist of washing, waxing and detailing of buses. Assist mechanics maintaining fleet vehicles which consist of changing oil & filters, fuel filters, wiper blades, checking all fluid levels, washing and vacuuming, changing transmission fluid & filter, mounting & balancing tires, a lubricate suspensions. Cleaning vehicles before returning them to drivers.
