The Motion Graphics Designer brings the Orlando Magic brand to life through dynamic animation, visual design, and motion storytelling across social media, digital platforms, broadcast, and in-game entertainment. Working in collaboration with Content Studio producers, editors, and cross-functional partners, this role creates engaging motion graphics that support team initiatives, enhance content quality, and deliver compelling experiences for fans, sponsors, and audiences across every screen. The Motion Graphics Designer is responsible for developing visually impactful content that aligns with the Orlando Magic brand while also supporting the branding and objectives of corporate partners through integrated campaigns, activations, and sponsored content.
What the role will do:
  • Design, develop, and animate high-quality 2D and 3D motion graphics for Orlando Magic content across social media, digital platforms, broadcast, marketing campaigns, and in-arena entertainment.
  • Conceptualize and execute motion design solutions from initial creative brief through final delivery, including storyboarding, style frames, animation, and finishing.
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, designers, videographers, and other stakeholders to develop visually compelling content that supports organizational objectives and enhances audience engagement.
  • Create motion graphics packages, templates, branded toolkits, and animation systems that maintain consistency across platforms and campaigns.
  • Design and animate logos, title treatments, transitions, sponsor integrations, and other branding elements for the Orlando Magic and its corporate partners.
  • Contribute creative ideas and visual concepts during content planning, campaign development, and production meetings.
  • Ensure all graphic and animation assets align with Orlando Magic brand standards, partner requirements, and platform specifications.
  • Develop motion graphics that support a wide variety of content initiatives, including social storytelling, feature content, game presentation, broadcasts, marketing campaigns, community relations initiatives, and sponsored programs.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, animation techniques, and design best practices to continually elevate creative output.
  • Manage project files, graphic assets, templates, and documentation in accordance with department standards and digital asset management practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, freelancers, and vendors to ensure motion graphics assets are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Provide production-ready graphic and animation files with proper formatting, specifications, and naming conventions for implementation across multiple distribution channels.
  • Participate in game nights and department events as assigned, supporting content and entertainment initiatives.
  • Evaluate and leverage emerging creative technologies, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and the quality of motion graphics production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What the role needs to have:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, Animation, Film Production, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional motion graphics experience required.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe After Effects required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
  • Experience with Cinema 4D or other 3D animation software preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in motion design principles, animation techniques, composition, typography, color theory, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience creating content for multiple platforms, including social media, digital, broadcast, marketing campaigns, and live event presentation.
  • Knowledge of video codecs, file formats, rendering workflows, encoding, and digital content delivery requirements.
  • Experience developing branded motion graphics packages, animation systems, and visual identities preferred.
  • Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate concepts into compelling visual solutions.
  • Strong understanding of brand standards and the ability to maintain consistency across multiple projects and platforms.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and file management practices.
  • Ability to receive feedback constructively and adjust creative work to meet business and creative objectives.
  • Familiarity with emerging creative technologies, including AI-assisted design, animation, and production tools, is preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with producers, editors, designers, freelancers, agency partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience utilizing digital asset management systems, creative workflow tools, or collaborative project management platforms preferred.
  • Interest in emerging creative technologies, motion design trends, and evolving production workflows.
  • Ability to work all Magic home games plus a select number of non-Magic events. This includes the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
