WeVote has an open volunteering position for a Motion Graphics Designer-Animator, Video Team (2-3 hours per week) who wants to use their existing skills and learn new skills while helping strengthen American Democracy.
About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is a movement of over 60 passionate volunteers (starting with the founders) who are building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We observe that many voters are busy, distracted, and impatient. WeVote is seeking a passionate and creative Motion Designer to join our volunteer team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building animated assets and motion graphics for Wevote's social channels and promoting Wevote and Democracy. Your expertise in Motion Graphics & Animation will resonate with our audience across various platforms. You should be proficient in Adobe After Effects and other related Adobe CC apps. This volunteer position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about storytelling through video and are looking to make an impact with their creative skills.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and design dynamic motion graphics for video content.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, and designers to align creative vision on various short form video projects and video templates for recurring video content.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with efficiency.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to produce innovative content ideas.
  • Adapt and optimize video content for various digital platforms.
  • Conduct quality checks and revisions based on feedback.
  • Maintain an organized library of motion graphic assets and project files.

Who you are: Must-haves.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Motion Graphics Designer or Video Editor.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Strong ability to create engaging and dynamic motion graphics from scratch.
  • Strong sense of visual aesthetics, pacing, and brand identity.
  • Ability to independently transform ideas into dynamic text and images
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Willingness to brainstorm and contribute creative ideas.
  • Portfolio or reel showcasing previous motion graphics work.
  • An interest in and familiarity with video for social media, including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • You want to help build and grow WeVote's video team.
  • At least 2-3 hours each week during our core team hours M-F 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • You are committed to strengthening American Democracy.
  • You are striving for personal excellence.
  • A willingness to work with and support other volunteers
  • You are currently located in the US and can work one or two hours that overlap with US PT per week.
