Motion Designer Editor information

What is a motion designer editor?

Motion Designer Editors are creative professionals who combine animation, graphic design, and video editing to produce engaging visual content. They use software like After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Cinema 4D to create motion graphics for advertisements, films, social media, and other digital platforms. Their work often includes designing animated titles, visual effects, and integrating graphics with live-action footage. They collaborate closely with creative teams to bring visual concepts to life and ensure the final product meets the project's objectives.

How does a motion designer editor typically collaborate with other creative team members during a project?

Motion Designer Editors frequently work closely with art directors, video editors, animators, and producers to bring visual concepts to life. They participate in brainstorming sessions, review feedback, and align their animations and edits with the overall project vision. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role often involves integrating motion graphics into larger video pieces and ensuring consistent branding across deliverables. Collaboration tools and regular meetings help streamline feedback loops and creative alignment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a motion designer editor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Motion Designer Editor, you need a strong background in graphic design, animation principles, and video editing, often supported by a degree in design or a related field. Mastery of software such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D, and relevant plugins is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective collaboration skills help you create compelling visuals that align with project goals. These skills ensure the delivery of visually engaging content that meets client expectations and enhances brand communication.

Bumble's Creative Studio is an exciting inflection point, supporting Bumble Inc.'s portfolio of apps globally. We're looking to hire a Graphic Designer to be a part of our small but mighty team, working on global projects and across time zones.
In this role within the Creative Studio, you'll help develop effective, exciting, and culturally relevant work for our portfolio of brands. You'll be part of a full-service, in-house, geographically diverse creative team of designers, art directors, copywriters, video editors, and producers who work hand-in-hand with external production and agency partners.
The person we are looking for is a vibrant Graphic Designer who brings both craft and fresh thinking to every project. With a growing command of design across print, digital, social and campaign work, they're detail-oriented and bring innovative ideas to the team.
Your work will span a wide variety of communications, from social and growth content to marketing and partnership campaigns, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your creativity and technical skills will play a crucial role in producing compelling designs.
This role is based in the US, reporting to the Design Lead in the UK.
Key Accountabilities
  • Designing across a broad range of communications for Bumble Inc.'s diverse brands, spanning social, growth, CRM, ASO, marketing, and partnership campaigns globally.
  • Developing creative concepts and translating them into visually compelling designs across print and digital media.
  • Collaborating closely with copywriters, motion designers and art directors to produce cohesive, engaging work across all brands.
  • Contributing creative ideas actively in brainstorming and concepting sessions to enhance overall design quality.
  • Presenting work to key stakeholders, clearly explaining the assignment and the rationale behind your design decisions.
  • Upholding and championing Bumble Inc.'s brand standards across all markets and touchpoints, ensuring consistency at every level.
  • Managing your own workload effectively, and flagging any resource or timeline considerations proactively.

Experience We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio that demonstrates a keen eye for detail and versatile design thinking. They're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the energy and curiosity to bring innovative ideas to every brief.
They're a self-starter who works comfortably both autonomously and as part of a collaborative, geographically diverse creative team. They'll set a high bar through the quality of their craft and the thoughtfulness of their creative contributions, while remaining open to direction and eager to grow.
About You
  • A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in the tech sector
  • You are proficient in design applications (Adobe CC, Figma), using the latest design tools, and embracing the future & AI
  • You are positive and committed with a 'can-do' attitude and a flexible approach to complex problems
  • You have a keen cultural curiosity
  • You're comfortable working autonomously (delivering design) and in collaboration with others (discovering a solution)
  • You have great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple briefs and meeting tight deadlines effortlessly
  • You have excellent time management skills and great attention to detail, ensuring our work always communicates clearly and is delivered on time
  • You possess a strong understanding of design principles including typography, layout, and color theory
  • You can comfortably deliver work across digital, print, packaging, and out-of-home channels
  • You showcase conceptual thinking and creative problem-solving abilities
  • You are passionate about our brand vision and values
