Outside Sales Representative — Compressed Air & Vacuum Systems

  Competitive Base Salary + Commission    |    Erie, PA    |  Full-Time

  Diversified Air Systems (DAS), an MCE Company    |  Territory: Northwest Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio  |  Must reside in territory

Do you get energized walking into a plant, spotting an inefficient compressor room, and knowing exactly how to fix it and how to make the case for it?

As an Outside Sales Representative at DAS, you will be solving real problems for manufacturers, municipalities, hospitals, and food processors across northwest Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio, selling compressed air and vacuum systems backed by top brands including Kaishan, Sullair, and Atlas Copco. You will have the tools, the support, and the territory to build something meaningful.

This role covers northwest Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio. Candidates must live within the territory.

Pennsylvania Counties:

Erie, Crawford, Mercer, Venango, Warren, Forest, McKean, Elk, Cameron, Potter

Ohio Counties:

Ashtabula, Trumbull

What You'll Do

Grow Your Territory

  • Identify and pursue new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, and in-person prospecting across manufacturing, automotive, food and beverage, municipalities, schools, and healthcare.
  • Retain and expand relationships with an established customer base through regular visits, check-ins, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Research local markets to spot emerging opportunities and stay ahead of competitors.

Solve Customer Problems

  • Conduct on-site compressed air system assessments and audits to uncover inefficiencies costing customers money.
  • Develop and present tailored solutions from rotary screw compressors and vacuum systems to nitrogen generators, chillers, and air-as-a-utility programs.
  • Work alongside our factory-certified service team and manufacturer reps to ensure customers get the right solution installed and running.

Own the Sales Process

  • Prepare and deliver quotes, negotiate terms, and close deals on capital equipment and service agreements.
  • Log all account activity, contacts, and opportunities in CRM daily to keep your pipeline accurate and actionable.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical staff when custom specs or system design is required.
What We're Looking For

Must Have:

  • 3 to 5 years of outside sales experience with a proven record of hitting or exceeding targets.
  • Comfortable and confident with cold calling — this role requires consistent prospecting to open new accounts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; at ease in a plant, a boardroom, or on a Teams call.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage a territory independently and hold yourself accountable.
  • Valid driver's license; must reside in or be willing to relocate to the territory.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in industrial or technical sales — compressed air, fluid power, HVAC, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with compressed air systems, vacuum equipment, or rotating machinery.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings or blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, sales, engineering, or a related field.
