REPORTS TO: Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: MOT Charter is a small school on a mission to provide a high quality learning experience for our students. We are currently looking to expand our pool of substitutes at both the K8 and High School Campus. The substitute teacher will, like all teachers at MOT Charter, have a passion for education and a desire to be an integral part of a school that provides a first class learning experience maximizing our students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
  • Valid or expired with ability to reinstate Delaware or out-of-state educator or teaching certification preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with curriculum standards and teaching strategies
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents
  • Experience with digital learning tools and classroom technology preferred
  • Substitute must be available to work the duration of leave of absence for the employee

RESPONSIBILITITES:
  • Provide subject-specific instruction in accordance with lesson plans and curriculum objectives
  • Engage students in meaningful learning activities and discussions
  • Assess student understanding through informal checks, quizzes, and assignments
  • Support student needs through differentiation, accommodations, and responsive teaching practices
  • Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning, enforcing school rules and classroom behavior expectations consistently
  • Maintain communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff as needed
  • Encourage and assist in the development of independent study habits
  • Communicate with students concerning their academic and behavioral progress
  • Make reasonable efforts to provide for the care and protection of school property, equipment, and materials
  • Maintain a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel
  • Participate in department or team meetings, professional development, and other school-related duties as requested
  • Report to work on time every workday, except as afforded by existing law
