Position: MOT Driver/ Skilled Laborer

Travel: Open to Travel

Location: primary location Abingdon, MD

Pay: $20.00/hr- $26.00/hr (Based on experience and certifications)

We are currently seeking MOT Driver/ Skilled Laborers to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team.Reporting to direct field supervision,the MOT Driver is responsible for all project related tasks requested, including but not limited to carrying materials and heavy objects, setting up cones and signage, driving TMA trucks on sites and roadways, cleaning of job site and assisting with maintenance of traffic. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction tasks and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines. This position requires a DOT card or ability to clear a DOT physical to obtain a DOT card. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED; can be replaced with relevant work experience
  • Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, acceptable Motor Vehicle records and reliable transportation.
  • DOT Card required; CDL A or B a plus, not required
  • Experience inHeavy Highway and/or bridge construction preferred
  • Familiar with paving, concrete, highway, MOT and/or bridge construction and all other highway construction scopes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Carry, load, unload and stack materials.
  • Lay out material and assist experienced crew members.
  • Dig with pick and shovel.
  • Assist with maintenance of traffic to include but not limited to setting out and picking up cones, assisting with lane closures, drving tma/crash trucks, flagging.
  • Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place.
  • Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed.
  • Jackhammer and saw cut concrete.
  • Clean up project site of debris.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
  • Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
  • It also requires the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height-and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.
