Job description

Job Title: Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant

Location: Jackson Ohio area (Office-based)

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm, occasionally on call as needed

About the Role We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant to support our branch mortgage team in delivering exceptional service to borrowers. In this role, you will play a key part in managing borrower communications, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding items, and preparing pre-approval letters to help move applications forward efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and track borrower follow-up items, including requesting and collecting missing documents, income verification, and other loan-related requirements
  • Prepare and issue accurate pre-approval letters in a timely manner
  • Maintain regular communication with borrowers via phone, email, and text to provide updates and answer basic questions
  • Monitor loan pipeline and ensure all follow-up tasks are completed according to deadlines
  • Coordinate with the Loan Officer and processing team to resolve any borrower-related issues or delays
  • Update loan files and systems with current borrower information and status notes
  • Provide general administrative support to the mortgage team as needed
  • Be available for on-call or as-needed support on weekends when urgent borrower needs arise

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in mortgage lending, loan processing, or as a loan officer assistant is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Understanding of mortgage loan documentation and the pre-approval process is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with mortgage loan origination systems (LOS) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with the team
