Job description

Summary

The Mortgage Outside Sales Assistant is responsible for various duties relating to the origination, and assistance of origination of mortgages for their assigned outbound sales loan officer. Ensures compliance with all mortgage loan policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the origination of mortgage loan applications and assists in the consummation of their ultimate closing.
  • Facilitates data entry of mortgage applications in the origination system on behalf of self and the assigned loan officer, also collects member documentation and ensures the compilation of the member information is accurate and complete.
  • High focus on determining the member's financial needs and the appropriate credit union mortgage loan product.
  • Support the Credit Union vision to drive member growth & engagement by cross-selling the CU's full suite of financial products to help our members.
  • Works directly with appropriate title companies to obtain preliminary costs associated with the mortgage loan transaction.
  • Ensures that all preliminary mortgage disclosures are complete and accurate and are distributed to the member as required by appropriate compliance regulations.
  • Makes recommendations on all mortgage and consumer loan applications.
  • Assists in developing new procedures to ensure the most efficient operations within the department.
  • Assists the credit union with required technical expertise with regard to real estate activities.
  • Communicates both verbally and in writing to member inquiries pertaining to all functions related to the mortgage loan process.
  • Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union's values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
  • Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
  • Assists loan officer with various marketing activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A four-year college degree is desirable but not required, plus mortgage origination experience. Appropriate experience may be substituted for the above requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate law and title insurance.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulations governing real estate, including Regulations B, C, X, Z and the Fair Housing Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae/Secondary Market underwriting guidelines and eligibility requirements.
  • Experience utilizing a PC-based loan management system which utilizes pipeline tracking and management capabilities.
  • Demonstrates a strong degree of sales aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
  • Strong date entry abilities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to be bonded.
  • Must have or be able to obtain NMLS registration.
