Project Name: Leaning Juniper 2B Repower Wind ProjectProject Location: Arlington, OR 97812

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking an ironworker that will be responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properly 
  • Check in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truck 
  • Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh 
  • Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck 
  • Shake out rebar, distribute/organize accordingly; use pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire 
  • Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels 
  • Understanding building codes/requirements 
  • Cut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch 
  • Install mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together; install caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety ; install rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings 
  • Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions 
  • Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine 
  • Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh 
  • Receive and offload all major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation 
  • Connect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; handle taglines 
  • Climb ladders (average 80m)
  • Involved with main erection crane assembly and teardown 
  • Ornamental Ironworker: installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork 
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 
  • All other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • One (1) year of related experience preferred
  • Equipment certifications as required 
  • Current driver’s license  
  • Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; knowledge of equipment and their uses; understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication); ability to work independently
  • Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements 
  • *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs
