Job description

A highly regarded and sophisticated Northeast law firm is seeking an Associate or Counsel with at least five years of commercial real estate and leasing experience to join its expanding real estate practice in Boston, New York, Hartford, New Haven, or Stamford.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney seeking sophisticated transactional work, direct client engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively with highly respected attorneys in a collegial and team-oriented environment. The practice represents developers, investors, franchisees, corporations, and other business entities in a broad range of complex commercial real estate and related business matters.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Sophisticated commercial real estate and leasing practice
  • Broad exposure to leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and development matters
  • Opportunity to work directly with clients and take on meaningful responsibility
  • Collaborative and genuinely collegial firm culture
  • Strong platform with nationally respected attorneys and clients
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Competitive compensation, bonus opportunities, and comprehensive benefits
  • Opportunity to grow within a highly regarded law firm

The Practice

Attorneys in this group handle a wide range of sophisticated transactional matters, including:

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial leases
  • Acquisitions and dispositions of commercial properties
  • Commercial real estate development and financing transactions
  • Franchise and distribution-related real estate matters
  • Negotiation of franchise agreements, renewals, and transfers
  • Asset acquisitions and related corporate transactional matters
  • Advising developers, investors, franchisees, and operating businesses on strategic real estate matters

This role offers substantial client contact, meaningful transactional responsibility, and the opportunity to work on complex and varied matters across industries.

Ideal Candidates

The firm is seeking attorneys who possess:

  • At least five years of commercial real estate and leasing experience
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial leases
  • Experience handling acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and development matters
  • Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively with colleagues and clients
  • Experience representing franchisees or handling franchise/distribution matters is strongly preferred
  • Experience at a sophisticated law firm or comparable practice environment preferred

Candidates must be admitted in the jurisdiction of intended practice.

The Culture

The firm is known for maintaining a genuinely collaborative and collegial environment while continuing to handle sophisticated work for premier clients across a broad range of industries. Attorneys are encouraged to assume meaningful responsibility, work closely with clients, and develop long-term professional relationships within a supportive team-oriented culture.

Unlike many larger institutional platforms, the firm has remained intentionally independent with no desire to morph into a much larger firm, and values teamwork, shared success, and long-term professional development. Attorneys benefit from accessible leadership, strong mentorship, and an environment where collaboration is key.

Base salary compensation for this position will vary by office location, relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors. The target base pay range for this role is $185,000-$275,000.

For consideration, please provide your resume and law school transcript. A deal sheet and cover letter are appreciated, but not required. All applications are confidential and NOT shared with employers without the candidate's permission.
